An article in computer weekly suggested that the global recession would put information at an even greater risk due to moving data storage and processing offshore.

They highlight that organisations should ensure outsourcing partners met the required standards on data protection - and check it not just take it as ok.

Warwick Ashford at Computer weekly highlights that it is important to retain control of at least some sections of your information - don't outsource everything was the warning.

They also warned that lay-off's etc., could increase the risk of staff stealing sensitive information out of spite. There has been research done on vindictive nature of some staff during these situations, and the important thing is to ensure you are treating staff fairly 'organisational justice' - and do what you can to ensure that data is secure.
